Before she embarked on a showbiz career, Jacqueline returned to Sri Lanka to live with her parents after graduating in Mass Communication from Australia.
She took up a TV reporting job and the occasional modelling assignments too that followed after she was crowned Miss Sri Lanka Universe in 2006.

She appeared in her first music video in 2007 for popular Sri Lankan pop/rap duo Bathiya and Santhush.
