Priyanka Chopra Meets Britney Spears in Las Vegas

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, who turned singer recently, met with pop star Britney Spears in Las Vegas.

The 31-year-old actress travelled to Vegas to host a music night at Surrender Nightclub.

In a photo posted on Instagram, the two stars were seen posing for the camera. While Priyanka was dressed in a yellow dress, Britney shimmered in a white ensemble.

Last year, Britney Spears began her two-year residency show Britney: Piece of Me at The AXIS at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Priyanka Chopra's third single release I Can't Make You Love Me, a cover of Bonnie Raitt's hit '90s song, was launched in India and the USA last week.

In search of Priyanka in India

I came to India as part of the Project India group of Bournemouth University to cover the Indian elections.
Three men – Rahul Gandhi, Narendra Modi, Arvind Kejriwal -- and two women –Sonia and Priyanka Gandhi -- have been the main focus of my life for several weeks now.
Priyanka has been in the news a lot recently. There have been a lot of words exchanged between her and Modi, as she tries to help Rahul retain his Amethi seat. It would be a dream come true if I could meet her.
And as fate would have it, I met a Priyanka on May 5 in Mumbai but her surname wasn’t Gandhi or Vadra.
Priyanka Chopra is one of the most celebrated Indian actresses and was the winner of the Miss World pageant in 2000. She had come down to Mumbai, which she constantly referred to as home, to release her first solo single. The song which is titled ‘I can’t make you love me’ was originally performed by Bonnie Raitt.
You knew you were in the right venue when you get into the dimly lit hall of the Blue Frog. The Blue Frog in Lower Parel prides itself as ‘Mumbai’s premier live music performance space’. The rather small hall has a stage and several seating compartments shaped like frogs. These compartments can seat about seven people. The lightening gave the hall some sort of violet appearance.
On this night, the screens just in front of the audience had just one picture on them – Priyanka! You knew who the evening was about.
The event was to begin at 7.30 pm. But, until now I had not heard of the Indian Standard Time. It didn’t bother anyone when she was over an hour late. She came in at about 9.05 pm donning a black skirt with some white t-shirt with the inscription ‘only child’. She talked about her inspiration for choosing to sing that song. It was addressed to Indian young women that had been let down in a relationship. It was her first solo single and her first live performance and she thought Mumbai, home, was the best place to do that.
The small waiting crowd was eager to hear her sing. They didn’t wait for long now. But it wasn’t her voice we heard. It was some pre-recorded sound. It was her first performance, maybe she wasn’t as courageous. But we probably deserved better after along wait.
But the press didn’t spare her.
Someone asked: “How come you sound different in all your songs”.
She replied: “But I just did it before all of you”.
Oh no, you didn’t!
In a challenge set by another journalist in the crowd, Priyanka had to prove she could sing, for real this time.
She sang a bit of the song with just her voice and she didn’t do too badly, according to the applause from the crowd.
Who knows? My good spell of luck might just continue and an opportunity to see the ‘real’ Priyanka, Priyanka Gandhi, may well fall before me.

Priyanka Chopra wears a see-through skirt, flashes her lingerie!

Priyanka Chopra seems to be inspired too much from the West, not only in terms of her singles, but also her dressing sense. The actress, who launched her latest single 'I Can't Make You Love Me' yesterday at a lounge in Mumbai, was snapped flashing her lingerie as she sported a see-through skirt, a trend inspired from the Hollywood!

Priyanka Chopra being condemned her dress up

The serious and religious circle of Hindu organizations Shiva Sheena objected Priyanka Chopra see through dress. The extremists Hindu organization gave ultimatum to stop  spread vulgarity. It is the first time in the history that Shiva Sheena gave such type of threat to any Hindu star.
Wearing a Zadig et Voltaire dress with necklace from Viange and McQueen pumps, Priyanka attended the recent Colors TV do. Straight hair and red lip finished out her look. Neck up, we loved her to bits, but neck below, she was a big disappointment. The fabric of her dress just didn’t work under those harsh camera flashes. Even with that pretty face, it was hard to get past that faux pas.
Sometimes, I wonder, how can someone like Priyanka, who has spent more than a decade in showbiz — and works with a stylist to boot — make such a rookie mistake?

Priyanka Chopra releases her third single

Priyanka: I'll sleep when I die!

Bollywood darling Priyanka Chopra had invited the American media and entertainment industry folks and some lucky fans to the launch party for her new music video I Can't Make You Love Me recently.
The venue was Manhattan's TriBeCa Grand Hotel, a boutique hotel in the hip, cobblestone eponymous downtown district.
Chopra, in a shimmering floor-length cerulean gown by Tamara Mellon and satin purple shoes, greeted her guests and thanked them for their support.
The EDM song, the third single of her debut album, is a cover of Bonnie Raitt's 1991 classic country ballad, which was named one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone Magazine. Here, it’s given a pop twist and dance beats.
It's all part of the Bollywood star’s entry into the American music scene. But for a newcomer, things have not been that bad.
Priyanka’s single, In My City, debuted on the NFL Network's Thursday Night Football.
Exotic was a collaboration with internationally-renowned rapper Pitbull and peaked at number 12 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs.
And this latest one, which made it to the number three spot on iTunes India in less than 24 hours, will be given a major boost by the legendary Dr Dre in his ad campaign for the Beats Pill XL portable Bluetooth speaker. That drops May 1.
The I Can't Make You Love Me video was screened at the event after a number of other brief clips about Chopra and her work. It was directed by Jeff Nicholas and Jonathan Craven, who were also behind Justin Timberlake’s Take Back the Night and Rihanna’s What Now.
The video depicts the tear-streaked star playing out a volatile romantic relationship with a chiselled man, with cutaways to a sexy, wind-blown Chopra posing sad and solo, belting out the love song.
And if she's trying to stay away from conforming to Indian stereotypes, she’s been successful: the only visibly Indian element is what appears to be one-on-one Holi celebration in a happy moment between the couple.
The four-minute story ends with her running away into the distance, her long ombre hair flowing behind her.
The former Miss World posed with some of the big names who showed up, such as Nick Cannon. She later tweeted: “Thank u Nick Cannon for coming to support me.. Ur an awesome friend.”
Fashion icon Manish Malhotra and New York-based model-actor-designer Waris Ahluwalia also made an appearance, as did famed marketing executive Rohan Oza.
Madhu Chopra, mother of the singer, was there too.
The clips leading up to the big music video screening gave a sneak peak of the Dre campaign. There was also a clip of Milo Ventimiglia, Heroes actor who plays the part of the lover in I Can't Make You Love Me, congratulating Chopra since he couldn't be present at the party.
There were testimonials from Jim Iovine, head of Interscrope Records, the label that Chopra is signed to, Anjula Acharia-Bath, CEO of Desi Hits, and Troy Carter, who is well-known for formerly being Lady Gaga's manager.
There were shots of Chopra herself at stops on her American publicity tour, speaking to television show hosts and personalities on ET, FOX, and more.
“I love what I do,” she said on a programme called Young Hollywood. “I just love everything that I do, whether it's making music, acting, travelling -- I enjoy it. I'll sleep when I die!”
Chopra has received some criticism for not doing anything to change American audiences’ one-dimensional conceptions of India and Indianness -- like explaining her new music as being ‘infused with Bollywood spice’.
But simply being who she is and bringing that to the US is something new and notable. She is indeed getting her foot into the mainstream pop scene and gaining attention, particularly through the people she is working with.
Contributors to her yet-to-be-named album include RedOne (Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez), Makeba Riddick (Cassie, Prince Royce), Timbaland (Brandy, Alicia Keys), Sean Garrett (Usher, Janet Jackson) and Toby Gad (Madonna, John Legend).
Additionally, producers from The Today Show, VH1, and more were in attendance at the party.
Chopra is the new face of GUESS and was the voice for the sassy female character Ishani, who comes in the form of a cartoon jetplane, in Disney’s animated Planes.
She’s definitely making her presence known on this side of the world.

People need to stop giving actors grief for not voting

Priyanka Chopra, who is currently attending the IIFA awards in the US, explained why she couldn't cast her vote in Mumbai on April 24.
'So unfortunate when scheduling keeps u away from some of d most important things. wish I could have been in india to exercise my most basic right to vote as a citizen..kudos to all who did and the others who can make it.. Must,' the 31-year-old actress tweeted.
Meanwhile, Dia Mirza defended Bollywood stars, who didn't vote by tweeting: 'Ppl need to stop giving actors grief for not voting today because of prior work commitments. #IPL2014 has kept many role models away as well.'
