Sonam Kapoor, who is currently making a splash on the Cannes red carpet, is quite a hit among her fashion forward fans too.
This minimalist selfie, however, does not represent the actress's overly fashionable and extravagant outfit posts.
Thanks to her keen eye for detail and general love for fashion, Sonam has been a consistent hit on the Cannes red carpet in the course of her stint as cosmetic giant L'Oreal's brand ambassador at the French Film Festival.
Her strategic balance between designer gowns by international lables and Indian designers has been widely applauded.

Sonam rounded off the look with a choker necklace designed by mum Sunita Kapoor and straight hair.

The actress accessorised her outfit, that featured a sheer cape over an intricately embroidered blouse, with Jimmy Choo heels and Ferragamo clutch.
This is the 28-year-old actress's fourth Cannes visit, since her debut in 2011.

After a dramatic first turn on the Cannes 2014 red carpet, Indian actress Sonam Kapoor went for a sheer sari-gown by her favourite Indian designer Anamika Khanna for her second Cannes outing.
She was attending the premiere of in-competition film Foxcatcher.

Bollywood’s resident fashionista, Sonam tells us why she loves going to Cannes.
“It gets a little stressful when I talk to the media, because I am either promoting a film or endorsing some brand. When I am Cannes, I am at ease. It’s like a three-day holiday!” she laughs.
“Last year, I met Julianne Moore and so many other actresses and models from different parts of the world. They are so famous and still humble and down-to-earth. I realise we live in such a bubble of stardom,” Sonam continues.
Kangna Ranaut, who has been much praised for her work in
Queen, recently reacted to it by saying
this.
When asked about it, Sonam said, “A lot of people say a lot of things about me but I don’t react to them much, as it was done in the spirit of the show. I expect other people to react the same way but I guess I make good copy and so people talk about what I say. People are making a big thing out of it. It (Koffee With Karan) is a fun and superficial show and I said it in jest. I will be careful of what I say.”
The actress was also in the news for the Sonam selfie song, which went viral. The hilarious video, which is made from her selfie pictures, makes a spoof of her accent and her often-used phrase ‘You know what I mean.’
Sonam takes it in the right spirit and says, “I really like the spoof! I watch it every three-four days with my friends over a glass of wine and laugh out loud. My sister makes fun of my accent.”

Sonam Kapoor has been walking the red carpet at the prestigious film festival since 2011. This year, she will make her presence felt on May 17 and 18.
“Every year I follow my own trend as opposed to following the world tends on the red carpet. I try to wear something that an Indian would be able to carry off,” Sonam said.
